Durable Computing: Ensuring Reliable Execution
At the core of our technology is durable computing, a powerful concept that ensures reliable execution, even in the most unpredictable cloud environments.
Our journey began when founder John A. De Goes—a mathematician, open-source advocate, and creator of ZIO—envisioned extending ZIO Flow’s resilient workflow capabilities beyond the JVM.
In March 2023, John teamed up with engineers Daniel Vigovszky and Afsal Thaj, hacking together the initial Golem prototype in Inverness, Scotland.
Their breakthrough proved durable execution of WebAssembly components possible, marking the birth of Golem. In 2024, Golem Cloud was officially incorporated, and we released our first public version that same year.
Today, Golem Cloud is driven by a globally-distributed team of passionate, open-source engineers committed to craftsmanship and deep technical excellence. Our stack is built entirely in Rust and TypeScript, emphasizing strong types, functional programming, and systems-level precision.
